    This training will focus on introducing participants to the AutPlay Therapy framework - a diversity approach for understanding neurodivergence and applying neurodiversity affirming principles in therapy work. The neurodiversity paradigm and play therapy integration will be explained along with the theoretical underpinnings and research related to the AutPlay framework. An overview of the processes, purpose, and implementation of the AutPlay framework will be covered. Case examples will also be presented, and participants will participate in experiential and reflective application exercises.

    Learning Objectives:

    1) Define the neurodiversity paradigm and its integration within play therapy work.

    2) Identify the play therapy theory and neurodiversity underpinnings in the AutPlay framework.

    3) Explain how neurodiversity affirming work can look in play therapy.

    4) Explain parent and family involvement in AutPlay.

    5) Demonstrate the assessment process in AutPlay Therapy that can be used to help identify neurodivergent needs.

    6) Identify play strengths, differences, and special interests as applicable in therapy planning and implementation.

    Interventions and approaches! If you are looking for play interventions to use with neurodivergent children, this is the training for you! This training focuses on play therapy approaches and techniques that work well when addressing mental health needs of neurodivergent children. A general overview of neurodivergence will be provided. How play therapy can be a viable therapy for neurodivergent children is also reviewed. Special considerations in using play therapy and in creating directive techniques will be covered. Several directive play therapy interventions will be explained, special considerations when using play therapy with neurodivergent children will be presented, and strategies for developing play therapy interventions will be discussed.

    Learning Objectives:

    1) Implement play therapy approaches to address mental health needs of neurodivergent children and adolescents.

    2) Identify evidence supported play therapy approaches for working with neurodivergent children and adolescents.

    3) Describe several structured play therapy interventions that can be implemented with neurodivergent children and adolescents.

    4) Describe special considerations when implementing play therapy approaches with neurodivergent children.

    5) Explain how to design a play therapy intervention and playroom set up when implementing play therapy.

    6) Identify play therapy approaches that incorporate parents and family members as change agents.
