IPTCA Annual Conference 2026
Supporting Transformational Change in Play Therapy
with Margot Sunderland
11–12 April 2026
In-person | Dunboyne Castle, County Meath
A two-day immersive conference with IPTCA, exploring how transformational change happens in play therapy with anxious, withdrawn, and hard-to-engage children and teenagers.
The training focuses on early therapeutic engagement, building psychological safety through attachment play and emotion cards, and responding to both indirect expression (play, metaphor, image) and direct expression (talk).
Key interventions include: big empathy drawing, therapeutic stories, sandplay, art and play for anxiety and depression, structured parent–child sessions, and effective parent interviews.
Practice is grounded in Emotion-Focused Therapy, Dyadic Developmental Therapy (PACE), attachment and trauma theory, and the work of Freud, Winnicott, and Bowlby, illustrated throughout with powerful audio-visual case studies.
